A Birthday Tradition
It’s October – birthday month for my girl. Harper will be turning eight, which is so hard to believe. We have a few birthday traditions leading up to the special day; make a birthday countdown chain, plan her birthday party, and go through her room to select toys and clothes to donate that she has outgrown. I love that it’s an annual event to go through Harper’s toys and pick out things that she’s ready to part with to give to a child in need.
I am excited to be partnering with Glad today to share their amazing program to make donating to others easy using their Glad to Give program. You then can schedule a free donation pickup by the charity of your choice through the site.
Harper and I enjoy dropping off her things to a local women’s and children shelter in San Francisco. It has been a wonderful learning experience for Harper to share her toys with children who are less fortunate. Using a big event like a birthday has been a great way to instill the importance of giving. She’s proud of the bag of toys and clothes she brings to the shelter. It’s a pretty amazing thing to see her feel empowered to give. This will continue to be a birthday tradition for years to come.
