Better Homes and Gardens shoot

BHG magazine feature

If you would have asked us a few years ago if we thought we’d be in the pages of Better Homes and Gardens, we would have told you that that would be a dream come true. That dream came to fruition this week as the BHG September Style Maker Issue arrived in mailboxes and hit newsstands.

We’re so honored to be this month’s “I Did It” two page feature. This feature has been in the works for a while. This past April, senior remodeling/projects editor Kit Selzer contacted us about featuring our DIY Modern Pegboard in the magazine. After some screams of joy, we said yes! Within a couple of weeks, we gathered at Sara’s flat in San Francisco with photographer Edmund Burr and stylist Laura Hill, both from LA, to shoot this story.

It was so amazing to watch Edmund and Laura set up equipment, choose styling elements and wardrobe. Sara brought out her treasure trove of styling props to choose from. We started with the main shot of the two of us at the desk with the modern pegboard. We tried multiple set ups before moving on to close up shots of the project. The last shot was the headshot of the two of us. Edmund had a real talent in keeping us laughing and relaxed during the all day shoot. It was really incredible to watch and learn from an amazing photographer and stylist!

Thank you to Kit and the team at Better Homes and Gardens for including us in this month’s gorgeous issue. We’ve been so honored to be nominated by their team of editors for the past two years as a Top Ten DIY Blog in their Blogger Awards, but being in the pages of the magazine is truly a dream come true. We grew up with this magazine and have been big fans as this publication continues to evolve and grow under the direction of editor Stephen Orr. Each issue is more beautiful and inspiring, and we’re so grateful to be a small part of that.
