We have come to absolutely love making or decorating eggs using Mod Podge. This is a glue like substance that makes decoupaging anything onto an egg simple. This is how we create these gorgeous blue and white chinoiserie patterned Easter eggs.

What is Chinoiserie?

Chinoiserie is a term used for designs inspired by Chinese and East Asian influences. It can be found in art, design, furniture, decorations and decor. It is a European term for the Asian influenced style. It is traditionally blue and white.

We love the classic, formal style with the bold blue and white.  You can find this design on ginger jars, plates, fabric and more.

Blue and white patterns go well with so many interiors and colors. This vintage inspired look can go with any home.

The chinoiserie paper napkins for this project are just beautiful on the Easter eggs, don’t you think?!

What is Mod Podge?

Mod Podge is a medium used for decoupage crafting. It is a glue. It is a sealer. It is a finishing product. Mostly used to glue and seal a material onto another material. We love to use it for adhering fabric, tissue paper, paper and more to wood, ceramics and Easter eggs!

Mod Podge is a glue like substance that we love using on egg designs. You can use fabric, paper, tissue paper, paper napkins, etc on real or faux eggs. Sponge brushes work really well when applying the Mod Podge.

Materials

  • faux or real eggs
  • mod podge
  • chinoiserie patterned paper napkins
  • scissors

Instructions

  1. First you will want to cut the patterns from the napkins. What we have found to work best is to peel the top layer of napkin. This will almost give you a tissue paper like feel to the floral patterned napkin.
  2. Cut as many designs as you would like for the eggs.
  3. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the egg and then press the cut napkin piece onto egg.
  4. Allow to dry and then add a think layer of Mod Podge on top of the napkin that you had glued ot the egg.
