DIY Halloween Treat Bags
H, A, double L, O, W, double E, N, that’s Halloween. This is a Halloween song I remember from childhood. Every time I write or type the word Halloween, I sing that tune in my head. Seriously – every time. We are in full Halloween mode around here at alice & lois. Today, I am sharing a fun DIY for little treat bags to fill with all kinds of goodies. I created my own freezer paper templates to paint the bags with some scary iconic Halloween images.

Supplies: Cotton Muslin Bags (I used 6 x 8 inch bags) // Black fabric paint // Freezer Paper// foam paint brush // X-Acto knife
Step 1: Print the halloween image template (Click here to print halloween templates)Cut out the four images, leaving white space around each image. Trace the edges of the image onto the paper side of the freezer paper.
Step 2: Using an X-acto knife, cut out the shape. Make sure to leave the inside edges clean, with no cuts. You only want o to cut out the black parts of the image. This is how you are creating your very own stencil!
Step 3: Slide a piece of freezer paper inside the paper. This will ensure the paint will not run to the back side of bag.
Step 4: Iron the shiny side down to adhere the stencil onto the bag.
Step 5: Use a foam brush for black paint.
Step 6: Let the paint dry for 15+ minutes then gently peel the freezer paper from bag.
I love these treat bags! They make perfect favors for a kid’s Halloween party. I am being conscious this year about incorporating more non-candy treats. Any good ideas for little toys, etc?
