See just how simple it is to make this DIY Wrapped Rope Wall Art using cotton rope, yarn and glue. 

Adding pops of color and texture to home decor in a sometimes subtle way seems to be our style. We made this simple DIY project to do just that – add the texture and colors of yarn and rope. I have to admit, I love how quick the project was and how on trend it looks with this little vignette. 

We are no stranger to using yarn and rope in projects. I made a large scale wall hanging using wide gauge pillow piping and yarn. I have also made a rope wrapped necklace! And who remembers the wooden spoons?! 

This DIY Wrapped Rope Wall Art is a new favorite home accessory. Simple to make, yet makes a nice statement in a gallery wall or vignette. We chose earthy Fall toned colors of yarn. But you could make this in any color family. Shades of pink for child’s room or even a black and white pattern for a more modern look.

Materials

• Cotton Rope
• Yarn
• Glue
• Scissors

Tools

• Hot Glue gun

Instructions

1. Cut 3 strands of cotton rope at 15 inches.
2. Secure the center of the ropes with a bit of glue.
3. Start by wrapping one color of yarn around the ropes. Secure with a dab of hot glue.
4. Continue wrapping the second and third color of yarn around the rope. Secure hte beginning section of rope with a dab of glue.
5. Pull the ends of the rope to fray. You can even use a metal comb to fray the ends.

Notes

If you want to make a thicker or larger looking rope wall art piece, you can double or triple the rope. Then tie the colored yarn around the two or three sections of rope all together. This will give the ends a thicker fray look as well.
