10 Favorite Backyard Playhouses

With the snow melting out in Crested Butte, I’ve been starting to dream up some backyard projects. Once I can start to see the grass, my mind wanders to warm summer days. One project that I’ve been day dreaming about it constructing a backyard playhouse for the girls. When we bought our lot ten years ago, there was an old treehouse on the property. It was too old and insecure to keep, but I’ve always thought it would be so fun to bring back a treehouse or playhouse to the yard. Now the question is, who will I recruit to help with this project? I’ve put together my 10 Favorite Backyard Playhouses.

Most of these structures lean on the modern side. I love the minimal design, which in my mind lets the kids imaginations take over. How fun to have a stilted playhouse in the yard where the kiddos can dream, play and create. I love the idea of a chalkboard wall on the inside or outside.
