Our love for smoothies continues with this protein–packed Chocolate Banana Smoothie recipe. Although in our house we call it the “Choco Banana” named after a favorite breakfast restaurant in Sayulita, Mexico! But, it is safe to say that this smoothie is a family favorite recipe. We are delighted to share our recipe in partnership with Horizon Organic today. Our girls love the chocolaty flavor of the smoothie and enjoy their favorite banana and almond butter mixed in. Add the extra protein of Horizon milk for added flavor.
Chocolate Banana Smoothie Recipe
2 small bananas, sliced and frozen
2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
3 Tablespoons almond butter
2 cups Horizon whole milk
2 teaspoons agave nector
1 cup of ice
Put all of your ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth consistency. If you like a thicker smoothie, only use 1 ½ cups milk.
A few ideas for additions to the smoothie:
- frozen strawberries
- hemp seeds
- flax seeds
- a few dates
Another family favorite is to make plenty of smoothie so we can freeze some for later in the form of popsicles! We love these popsicle molds. And if you haven’t used the silicone freezer pop molds, you must try!
