Kid-Friendly Cheese Board

Make this kid-friendly appetizer board for all the little ones.

The holiday season is upon us, and that means parties and family gatherings. Those things don’t always equate to good eating choices, especially for the kiddos. We’re teaming up with our friends at Horizon Organic to share one of our very favorite ways to give the little ones some good for you party food. This Kid-Friendly Cheese Board works as a special appetizer for the little party goers, it also works so well during those all day holiday gatherings. If you put out fresh fruit, cheeses and veggies, the kids will devour them all! And the kids feel pretty special that they get a fancy cheese board just like their parents do!

Kid-Friendly Cheese Board

Ingredients:

Green Beans, Steamed and Chilled

Carrots

Salami roll ups

Sliced apples

We love using an oversized wood cutting board or wood serving board.

Steps:

  1. Start by creating groupings of the Horizon cheese shapes near the exterior of the wood board. We love the precut fun shapes!
  2. Next, create little groupings of meat if you choose, like salami roll ups. (Spread a thin layer of Horizon cream cheese on the salami and roll up. Secure with a wood toothpick.) We also love to put the cucumber and tomato kabobs on the board. Just slice an English cucumber in 1 inch pieces and put on toothpicks with cherry tomatoes.
  3. Keep filling in the board with groupings of fruit and veggies, until your board is full.

Other ingredient ideas include: dried fruit such as dried apple rings, dried apricots and raisins. Other veggies such as steamed and chilled broccoli and radishes. You can always add crackers to the board as well. We love to include hard boiled eggs, peeled and cut in quarters to our board.

Why not give the kids good choices, especially during the holidays? We like to make the veggies cut into bit-size pieces, along with fruit, too. And the Horizon Cheese Shapes are the perfect size for the kids. Taking a snack break can be fun as they sit down around their very own meat and cheese board. Put out fun little appetizer plates and napkins for each kiddo too! This cheese board will give them the protein they need during this festive season.

Follow along with Horizon for more great snack ideas!
